FAQs

1

Why do you only work with children ages 2-7?

While the principles of behavior are true and effective for all individuals regardless of age, early childhood is a critical window for learning, and the principles of behavior analysis are especially effective during these years. Early intervention can strengthen communication, play, emotional regulation, and independence while preventing challenges from becoming long-term patterns. As children grow older, behavior is influenced by increasingly complex developmental, social, and emotional factors that often require a broader scope of support than our parent coaching and consultation services are designed to provide.

2

Does my child need to have Autism or other diagnosis to work with you?

No! This service is designed for all families and communities who can benefit from behavior support with their children. While my clinical expertise is in Autism, these strategies are effective for everyone.

3

How is behavior consultation different from therapy or treatment?

This service is educational and consultative rather than long-term, insurance-driven therapeutic treatment. Instead of providing direct intervention with your child, I partner with parents, caregivers, and educators to build knowledge, confidence, and practical strategies they can use in everyday life. My role is to coach, guide, and empower you with evidence-based principles so you can create meaningful, lasting change within your family's natural routines.

4

How does behavior analysis complement other parenting philosophies?

Behavior analysis isn't a parenting philosophy—it's the science of how people learn and how behavior is shaped by everyday experiences. Because of this, it can complement many parenting approaches, including gentle parenting, respectful parenting, conscious parenting, and Montessori-inspired practices. While these philosophies offer values and guiding principles, behavior analysis provides science-backed tools for turning those values into everyday interactions that build communication, cooperation, confidence, and connection.

5

How far do you travel to clients?

In-person coaching is available in Western Nevada County (California) cities and nearby unincorporated areas, including Grass Valley, Nevada City, North San Juan, Penn Valley, Rough and Ready, and Alta Sierra. Families and educators beyond can access online consultation services from anywhere.

6

Do you accept insurance?

My services are offered on a private-pay basis so I can provide flexible, individualized support without the restrictions of insurance requirements. This allows us to focus on your family's unique goals, spend time where it's most valuable, and tailor our work together without the limitations of diagnosis-driven treatment plans, authorization requirements, or predetermined service models. It also allows me to work with anyone who can benefit, not just those receiving clinical treatment. My priority is providing personalized guidance that best meets your family's needs.

Yes! Payment plans are available through Stripe at checkout.

8

Where does coaching take place?

For families, one-to-one coaching is primarily provided in the home or places in the community where challenges typically occur (e.g., playground, stores). For homeschools and other caretakers, coaching is provided in the classroom.

9

What is inclusion?

Inclusion means creating environments where every child is welcomed, valued, and supported to participate meaningfully alongside their peers and in the community. It's about adapting the environment—not expecting the child to change who they are—so that differences are respected, strengths are celebrated, and every child has the opportunity to belong, learn, and thrive.
